The group goes on monthly outings to places of interest in and around London and sometimes beyond. We use our Freedom Passes for travel on trains, the Tube and buses so all travel is free. Most of the places we go to are also free to visit although occasionally there is a small entrance charge.
Examples of places we have visited in the last year include Osterley House, Horizon 22, the Bank of England museum, Roman sites in the City of London, Chislehurst caves and exhibitions at the Natural History Museum, Kenwood House and Temple Place.
We usually travel as a group of about 15 people. It’s a friendly group and everyone enjoys a chat when we stop for coffee or lunch.

The Freedom Pass group’s visit in April 2026 was to the new V&A museum in Stratford, East London.  We started off in the rather lovely ground floor cafe and then continued to the two galleries housing a range of objects from the V&A’s vast collections.  The rooftop terrace has fantastic views across London and there was a paid for exhibition on black music which some of the group visited and enjoyed.

Our May visit was to the Serpentine Galleries in Kensington Gardens on a very hot day towards the end of the month.  This was our second David Hockney exhibition of the year and this one focussed on a Year in Normandie with the changing seasons illustrated around the walls of the gallery, inspired by the Bayeux tapestry.

There was also an exhibition of Cicely Brown’s work based on actual locations in Kensington Gardens.
