Groups

INTEREST GROUPS are all run by volunteers giving their time, skills and experience to offer you the opportunity to not only get out and about but also to learn a new skill and to meet others like yourselves with an enthusiasm to learn.

Don't be discouraged from joining Enfield u3a if there isn't a group running in a subject in which you are interested. You may wish to offer your own knowledge and expertise to start a new group.  If there are any other subjects you are interested in, please contact me (Susan Sloggett, Group Coordinator);  I am always open to new ideas and maybe other members would also be interested.

We are trying to start up a variety of new interest groups at the Enfield u3a which members will be welcome to join:

  • Ageing Now
    The basic concept is a very simple one: to share our ideas and experience of one of life's most common adventures - getting (and being) old in today's world. The emphasis would be on face-to-face interaction, because conversation is so good for the heart and the head!  Each gathering would have a focus/theme decided by the group in advance, which could include:
    • Attitudes to ageing, stereotypes, cliches . . . .
    • Change in much later life, maybe moving house, isolation . . . .
    • Inspirations: role models, books, films, images . . . .

  • Art Galleries/Museums 2 (Leader required) 
  • Discussion 2
  • Dream Interpretation
  • Genealogy 2
  • Knitting & Crochet 2

We have had to temporarily suspend the Singing Group group as we need a pianist. Do you or someone you know play the piano/keyboard and could give up just 2 hours on the 2nd Tuesday of the month to help us out?

Several of the existing groups have spaces, so please contact me (Susan Sloggett, Group Coordinator) through the u3a website if you are interested in joining any group(s).  Please include your membership number when doing so.  There might be a waiting list for some groups, but don't let this put you off.
