Do you play Mahjong/Mah Jong? Would you like to learn?

Mah Jong is a game of skill, strategy and luck. It is of Chinese origin and is played with 144 tiles which are engraved with Chinese symbols and characters and divided into suits (bamboo, circles and characters), honours (winds and dragons), flowers and seasons. Beginners can start with a simple version, similar to the card game rummy. Once that is mastered, more complicated special hands can be tried and eventually the intricate scoring system introduced.

Enfield u3a Mah Jong Group meets at a local pub at 2pm on the 1st and 4th Mondays of the month. There is no fee to join the Mah Jong Group, but, since the pub is kind enough to let us play there, everyone is expected to buy at least one drink (the pub sells tea and coffee as well as soft and alcoholic drinks).

Would you like to learn or, better still, do you know how to play and have a Mah Jong set you could bring along? Players of all levels are welcome.
