The Social Group is a very informal, friendly group. We meet once a month in a church hall in Enfield, on the 4^th Wednesday of the month at 2pm, for a 2.30pm start. There is an entrance fee of £3 which pays for the hall and the speakers.

Our meetings are a mixture of speakers on many subjects and social meetings, when we play board games or cards. There is also a short quiz then we have a raffle at the end of each meeting, apart from the November one.

The programme for the remaining months of 2026 is:

• 23rd September - Barnet Ukulele band 
• 28th October - Cards and Games 
• 25th November - Christmas Party. All the members bring buffet food, and we have a pass the parcel, a “Secret Santa” lucky dip, when those participating bring a small wrapped present.

There is no meeting in December.

• 24th February - Nanette Clarke: History of Aloe Vera 
  • Her talk covers various aspects including:  
    • The ancient uses and significance of aloe vera
    • Different types of aloe vera plants
    • Benefits of aloe vera for gut health and immune health
    • Joint mobility
  • The presentation includes free product sampling. Attendees will be able to experience  the benefits of aloe vera first hand.  
•  24th March - Gaye Illsley: The Importance of Lasting Power of Attorney
  • Gaye Illsley, an independent living expert, will explain how a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) helps legal decision-making about a person’s health and welfare, property and financial affairs. She will cover changes in the registration process and current best practice, and refer to her personal experience of using an LPA for family members. Maybe something we’d rather not think about but a vital issue we should all consider.
